Everon Names Industry Veteran Don Young as Chief Executive Officer

June 9, 2025
The appointment follows Don Young’s departure from ADT and marks the latest leadership move in Everon’s strategic evolution under private equity ownership.

Systems integrator Everon has appointed longtime industry leader Don Young as CEO, effective immediately. He succeeds Tim Whall, who has served as interim CEO since November 2024 and will continue in his role as Executive Chairman of the Board.

The leadership transition follows the departure of Dan Bresingham, who served as CEO from the time of Everon’s rebrand from ADT Commercial in early 2023 until November 6, 2024. Whall, a seasoned industry executive and current Executive Chairman, stepped in as interim CEO following Bresingham’s exit and has overseen the company through a period of operational refinement and strategic focus.

The appointment of Young marks a significant step in Everon’s ongoing transformation under private equity firm GTCR, which acquired the company in 2023. Since then, Everon has positioned itself as a full-service integrator specializing in the installation, service and monitoring of commercial-grade systems for enterprise clients.

Young brings more than 35 years of experience in the security and life safety industry, most recently serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at ADT, where he helped oversee a multiyear operational transformation. His retirement from ADT became effective on June 6, following an announcement made in March.

Young’s extensive background includes executive posts at SecurityLink, ASG Security, HSM, STANLEY Security and Protection 1 — many of which he led through periods of private equity ownership and significant growth. His partnership with Whall dates back several decades, including past tenures at Protection 1 and ADT.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Don to Everon to usher in the next phase of growth and long-term success,” Whall said in an announcement. “He brings deep expertise, strategic clarity and a customer-centric mindset that will help us sharpen our focus and elevate service delivery.”

Young is also well known for his industry engagement. He co-founded the Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR) and served as its first president. He also served as president of The Monitoring Association (TMA) from 2019 to 2021 and currently sits on the Security Industry Association (SIA) Board of Directors. Additionally, he is an active contributor to the UL Standards & Engagement Technical Committee for professional monitoring standards.

“This is the fifth private equity-backed venture I’ve partnered on with Don,” Whall added. “His leadership consistently drives results and strengthens customer relationships, which will be critical to our continued momentum.”

In a statement, Young called the new role “an honor,” noting that Everon’s strategic foundation, operational capabilities and customer-first culture were what drew him to the opportunity.

“Tim and the team have built a clear, focused strategy,” Young said. “I’m excited to lead Everon in executing that vision with the speed and quality that today’s commercial customers demand.”
